The company Teradata is a provider of software, products, and services related to databases and analytics. It was formed by Caltech researchers and the advanced technology group of Citibank in 1979 in Brentwood in California. Teradata is a company that develops and sells software subscriptions for database analytics. Three essential services are provided: business analysis, cloud products, and consulting. It works in North and Latin America, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Teradata is based in San Diego, California, and is located in the United States at other significant locations in Atlanta and San Francisco, where research and development of its data center take place. It is traded under the TDC stock symbol on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Since 2020, Steve McMillan has been Chairman and CEO of the Company. As of 9 February 2020, the company reported revenues of 1,836 billion dollars, net incomes of 129 million dollars, and 8,535 global employees.

Since becoming an independent public company in 2008, Teradata has acquired several firms. Teradata acquired the company Claraview in March 2008, which has formerly developed a Clarabridge software provider. In August 2010, Teradata acquired a DBMS vendor based on columns, Kickfire and Aprimo, for approximately $550 million in December. Aster Data Systems was acquired in March 2011 for approximately 263 million dollars. In May 2012, Teradata acquired an eCircle email marketing company merged into the business in Aprimo. In 2014, Teradata acquired and reported $50 million from Revelytix, an information management product provider. Teradata purchased Think Big Analytics from Hadoop in September. RainStor, a Hadoop online data archiving company, was acquired in December. As a service provider, in January 2015, Teradata acquired Appoxxee, followed by the Dutch digital marketing company FLXone in September. This amount amounts to approximately $20million. On 21 July 2016, Teradata acquired the UK-based Big Data Partnership.
