About software certifications

Software Certifications or the International Software Certifications Board (ISCB) was established in 1980 as a part of the Quality Assurance Institute (QAI). QAI is a professional association that aims to represent software quality assurance (SQA) professionals. ISCB was restructured as an independent board apart from QAI as an association to provide the guidance and governance of the certification program after the founding directors of QAI recognized the need to maintain the professional certification program from the association. The International Software Certifications Board launched its Certified Quality Analyst (CQA) as the first official certification program in 1985. The certification was later renamed as the Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA). This certification has become a very popular quality assurance certification since its launch. Later, in 1990, ISCB launched its first formal examination-based certification. Over the years, the International Software Certifications Board has certified more than 52,000 individuals on six continents.

The professional certification programs of ISCB cover three significant domains. These three domains are Software Quality Assurance, Software Testing, and Software Business Analysis. As the standard for quality assurance professionals in Information Technology, Software Certifications is recognized worldwide. The International Software Certifications Board currently operates in more than 135 countries on six continents. It also has more than 3000 test centers worldwide. The current certifications that ISCB offers include CASQ - Certified Associate in Software Quality, CAST - Certified Associate in Software Testing, CSQA - Certified Software Quality Analyst, CSTE - Certified Software Tester, CMSQ - Certified Manager of Software Quality, CMST - Certified Manager of Software Testing, CABA - Certified Associate Business Analyst, and the CSBA - Certified Software Business Analyst. Having these certifications means gaining recognition, competitive advantage, an increase in salary, and a validation of software quality assurance and testing skills. Therefore, many individuals are interested in obtaining these software certifications to improve their careers.
