About rsa
RSA Security LLC is a computer and network security corporation specializing in encryption and encryption standards. The RSA public-key cryptography technique was named after the initials of the company's co-founders, Ron Rivest, Adi Shamir, and Leonard Adleman. RSA held the BSAFE cryptographic libraries once. RSA is well-known for reportedly including NSA-developed backdoors in its products. It also hosts the annual RSA Conference, which is focused on information security. RSA Security was founded in 1982 as a stand-alone firm before being acquired by EMC Corporation in 2006 for USD 2.1 billion and operating as a subsidiary within EMC. When Dell Technologies bought EMC in 2016, RSA became part of the Dell Technologies family of companies. Currently, Symphony Technology Group (STG) is its parent company.
RSA is well known for its SecurID product which uses hardware tokens with rotating keys, software tokens, and one-time codes to enable two-factor authentication to hundreds of technologies. The SecurID platform was renamed RSA SecurID Access by RSA in 2016. This release adds Single-Sign-On features and cloud authentication for resources using SAML 2.0 and other types of federation. The RSA Identity Governance and Lifecycle solution is also part of the RSA SecurID® Suite. The system gives an organization visibility into who has access to what and manages access with features like Access Review, Request, and Provisioning. RSA enVision is a SIEM (security information and event management) platform with a centralized log-management service that claims to "enable organizations to simplify the compliance process as well as optimize security-incident management as they occur." EMC purchased NetWitness on April 4, 2011, and it was added to the RSA portfolio of products. NetWitness was a packet capture program designed to provide complete network visibility in order to detect security problems. As a SIEM solution that conducted log and packet capture, this tool was renamed RSA Security Analytics and was a mixture of RSA enVIsion and NetWitness.
