In 1999, CyberArk was founded in a team of security engineers who implemented digital void technology, Alon N. Cohen and current CEO Udi Mokady, 2014 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year. This technology (also known as the Digital Vault network vault) encloses data with eight security capabilities within an existing network perimeter, creating a central repository to share and store proprietary or confidential data. CyberArk's privileged account security solutions continue to be based on Digital Vault.
CyberArk presented its 2013 revenues of $66.2 million to the Securities and Exchange Commission for an IPO in June 2014. The same year, CyberArk became a public undertaking trading with CYBR on the NASDAQ. CyberArk took a series of local security acquisitions in the years following its IPO to help CyberArk provide more comprehensive security solutions. In 2015, CyberArk purchased $39.5 million for privileged management and application management software from the privately-owned Massachusetts-based company Viewfinity. In 2017, CyberArk purchased Conjur Inc., based in Massachusetts, which secures access to cloud-based software for software development and IT teams for $42 million. In 2018, CyberArk acquired some assets from Vaultive, a Boston-based cloud provider. Vaultive staff, mainly from the R&D group of the company, joined CyberArk. In 2019, CyberArk bought a $70 million Idaptive identity startup. Retail code and vulnerabilities were found, and an advisory was published on April 9, 2018, by RedTeam Pentesting GmbH. In early February, CyberArk received a notice of the flaw and published a corrective patch later in the same month.
