The Zend Certified PHP Engineer is an industry-wide standard that tests PHP expertise. The certification evaluates knowledge of PHP from a practical perspective. Zend Certified Engineer certification is identical in concept with certification programs such as Microsoft's Certified Professionals (MCP) and the Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP) programs. The Zend Certified Engineer Certification establishes a measure of distinction that employers can use to evaluate prospective employees. Having a Zend Certified Engineer certification will not make you a better programmer. However, it will improve your chance to stand out among other uncertified applicants applying for the same position. 

About Zend Certified PHP Engineer Certification Exam

The Zend Certified PHP Engineer exam aims to allow PHP professionals to attain the "Zend Certified Engineer" designation. It validates your experience in the world of PHP. The certification exam encompasses a curriculum specified by the Zend PHP Education Advisory Board and the Zend Framework Education Advisory Board. It also measures candidates' skills to demonstrate expert proficiency in PHP or Zend Framework.

The Zend Certified PHP Engineer certification exam code is 200-550. The exam costs USD 195. You can either choose Pearson VUE testing centers or give exams online through the OnVUE proctored exam. The online exam is only delivered in the English language. The PHP 200-550 exam contains 75 questions. The exam duration is 90 minutes. To earn the certification, candidates have to secure a "Pass" grade in the 200-550 exam. Questions are in one of three ways:

• Multiple-choice question with only one right answer. 
• Multiple-choice question with multiple correct answers. 
• Free-form question (answer must be typed in)
