CIW v5 Database Design Specialist

The CIW Database Design Specialist course prepares students to take the CIW Database Design Specialist test, which grants the candidate the certification of Database Design Specialist if passed. This exam consists of 50questions and is 90 minutes long.  You must score 75% or more to pass the exam.

Objectives 

Domain 1: Relational Database Fundamentals

• Define basic types of databases and systems of management
• List common database languages and their purposes and define Organized Query Language language subsets (SQL).
• Define schemas, functionality, and manipulation of relational data modelling

Domain 2: Relational Database Design and Application

• Identify the steps in the life cycle scheduling database
• In the conceptual design process of the database, classify the activities

Domain 3: Normalization and Database Design

• Apply methods and processes of normalization
• Describe measures and procedures in logical database design
• Interpret logical data models into a physical data model that a specific database management system can implement (DBMS)

Domain 4: Structured Query Language (SQL)

• Identify commands and syntax from SQL
• Develop statements using the Language of Data Description (DDL)
• Type commands using Language Manipulation of Data (DML)
• Use Data Control Language (DCL) statements to control access to database data and to give authorization to users for data operations.

Domain 5: Relational Algebra and Databases

• Defining and explaining the use of relational algebra to build new relationships from established relationships with databases

Domain 6: Transactions, Currency Control and Database Security

• Build transactions and allow control of the currency
• Define Database Protection Elements
