New Released Cisco Certifications

As the existing certifications were retired, consequently, Cisco launched the new certifications to replace them. In brief, the newly launched certifications mostly consolidate the scattered certifications into a few ones to give candidates fewer certification exams while having more knowledge. Hence, the newly released Cisco Certifications and their discussions are presented below.

Newly Released Associate-level Cisco Certifications

Precisely, the associate-level certifications granted by Cisco shall be consolidated into three overall certifications. Namely: CCNADevNet Associate, and CCNA Cyber Ops. The associate-level Cisco Certifications are those certifications that generally test the basic understanding of the candidate on the networking-related knowledge.

Basically, the newly released CCNA acts as a comprehensive test for all associate-level certifications.

  • The newly released CCNA certification will subsequently replace the CCNA Cloud, CCNA Industrial, CCNA Collaboration, CCNA Routing And Switching, CCNA Security, etc.
  • The consolidated CCNA certification will have only one certification exam: 200-301 CCNA. This Certification will cover all of the entry-level networking basics and knowledge a candidate needs to pass the exam.
  • Similarly, the DevNet Associate certification will also comprise of one certification exam: 200-901 DEVASC. In brief, this exam shall test the candidate's knowledge of software design and development fundamentals using the Cisco platform.
  • The CCNA CyberOps certification will test the fundamental knowledge of the candidates in the cybersecurity domain. In short, this Certification will be helpful for those new candidates in working with associate-level security analysts working on different security centers. Subsequently, there is a single exam to pass for this Certification, the: 200-201 CBROPS, which replaced the 210-250 SECFND, and 210-255 SECOPS exams.

CCNA CyberOps 210-250 SECFND, 210-255 SECOPS exams.

Newly Released Professional-level Cisco Certifications

Similarly, many different professional-level certifications given by Cisco are also being consolidated into 6 certifications. Generally, the professional-level certifications require the candidates to focus on a particular technology of networking and tests the level of professional knowledge of the candidates giving the exam.

Also, they are more difficult and specialized than the associate-level Cisco Certifications.

Blending the professional certifications into 6 types of certifications primarily gives the candidates the chance to choose 6 specialized networking domains and master them.

In short, the 6 certifications shall encompass all of the different professional Cisco Certifications. These 6 professional-level certifications are:

  • DevNet professional
  • The CCNP Data Center
  • CCNP Enterprise
  • CCNP Security
  • The CCNP Collaboration
  • CCNP Service Provider

Architect-level Cisco Certifications

Likewise, the architect-level certifications are the highest level of certifications that Cisco grants to the network professionals. If you are a senior professional or network infrastructure architect who develops technical specifications for businesses around the world, then this Certification is for you.

The (CCAr) Cisco Certified Architect is the required Certification for architect-level professionals.

Cisco Certifications Facts

Cisco Certifications Facts.

As the certifications are retired and replaced, consequently, you may wonder: What will happen to my certification status after my Certification has retired? So here are some facts and new policies that can be helpful to decrease your confusion and make you clear on your status.

  1. To begin with, for you to obtain a CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert) or CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) certification, the CCNA certification will no longer be necessary. Hence, there is no prerequisite for obtaining the CCNP and CCIE certifications.
  2. Likewise, the Cisco certifications now all have a set validity date. Indeed, most of the Cisco certifications are now only valid for 3 years. However, the Specialist and CCIE certifications are only valid for 2 years.
  3. All of the CCIE written exams shall expire. Therefore, you need to complete corresponding core and lab exams successfully to obtain a CCIE certification. Additionally, for the CCDE (Cisco Certified Design Expert) Certification, you must take a written exam and a practical test to demonstrate your skills and pass them.
  4. For the CCNA, CCNP, and Specialist certification holders, your certifications will be valid until their expiration date, at which point the Certification will no longer pose any value.
  5. For the active CCIE certificate holders, your suspended year will be converted into the active year, making your Certification still active for one more year. It means that if your CCIE certification status would have been suspended on June 20, 2020, basically, now the Certification will remain active until June 20, 2021. Hence, you have a one-year extension.

Cisco Re-Certification Policy

Cisco's newly updated re-certification policy states that all the professionals with the CCNA, Cisco Certified Specialist, CCIE, and CCNP certifications need to recertify after February 24, 2020. Moreover, the re-certification policy also states that to recertify for your Certification, you can either take exams or earn the Continuing Education Credits (CEC) of Cisco.

Generally, you can obtain these CEC by attending Cisco Live training sessions, completing the online training courses, authoring Cisco content, taking instructor-led seminars, and more.
